The Day Kory was born!

1985 February - 2010 October

I am Kory's godfather Darryl Boudreaux. Kory's mom Penny was my sister. Penny and I had an older brother named Chris Jr. who passed away in a car accident when he was 11. Penny was 10 and I was 7. This hit our family hard. When I was 18, Penny said she was pregnant and Kory's dad Donald Cooper left town. Penny moved back in with my parents and had Kory. I remember the day like it was yesterday because I was going to be a parrin. I was dating Donna and we were there at the hospital. When Kory was 2, Penny came down with Guillian Bere Syndrome and was in the hospital for 6 months. Out of concern for Kory and Penny, my parents took custody of Kory so that the state would not step in if something would happen to Penny. When Penny finally got out of the hospital, for some reason she resented my parents for this. A couple years later when Kory was 4, My dad Chris Sr. died of Leiukema and my mom Gloria died 10 days later of a heart attack. Donna and I did not know what to do at this time so we talked to Penny about it and she agreed to give custody to Donna and I due to financial reasons. We accepted and Kory lived for two years between Donna's house and my house while we were dating. Everyone thought and still thinks that Kory was my child. We treated him like he was ours. Penny continued to be a part of his life also and even up to her death 15 months prior to Korys. When Kory was 12 Donna and I divorced and Kory was living with me. Kory had problems getting along with the person I was with and he asked to go live with Donna in Patterson. Donna and I remained friends and we spoke about it. She offered to take custody of Kory and I must say not too many people would do that. Donna, Bobbie and I will always hold a place in our heart for you. You are a great wonderful person. When Kory was 14, I met a wonderful person Bobbie and two years later we found out we were going to have a child of our own. Bobbie said that she was due on March 5th and I said no our kid will be born on February 27th, which is Kory's birthday. Guess what? I was right. Darryn was born on February 27th 2001 when Kory was 16 years old. I was Kory's parrin so I made him Darryn's parrin. One of my proudest moments was when Kory asked me to part of his wedding. I was very excited about the invitation. Kory was a great father and made me very proud of how he was there for all three of his kids. Kory was a great worker for Coca Cola and took pride in his neatness of work and always sent me pictures of displays. I was always surprised how well Kory's kids listened when he came around me and Bobbie. Kory and Courtney has three beautiful children and we will do everything possible to remain in his families life. Courtney, I can't thank you enough for setting up this memorial for Kory. I will look at it often to read the crazy stories that his friends are posting. As I said before, thank you for loving him unconditionally during his time of sickness. And yes, Kory did make me proud of him but as you said, the stubborn Boudreaux in the two of us made it difficult at times. Take care and we love yall.
